night out with Lij

Elijah and Django went out the other night for the midwinter festival. Lots of lights, lanterns, cold fingers, things to explore, good food and goofing around.

Thanks Uncle Joe and Aunty Cath for creating such a memorable time for the lads :)

happy birthday Grandad!

Happy Birthday Nanna!

We had a couple of days on Bruny with Nanna recently. The definite agreed upon highlight was the trip to the lighthouse. It was a bit too windy for Theo so he didn't take in much of it as he would not peek out from his beanie (see below). Django's highlight was running all the way down the hill with his Nanna who can manage running alongside her grandson down a steep track despite having reached the grand old age of 39!

Theo wont come out even for a photo

Django and Theo outside the lighthouse. There is a photo of James and I at exactly the same spot when we were about the same age as Django and Theodore.

Story time would never end if it were up to these boys

Out to lunch at Morella, lovely!

mmm, chips and sauce. Theo complimented the chef with a big saucey grin and an empty bowl.

poo and needles

We finally made our strawberry bed the other day. We filled it with a potent mix of good draining loam, compost and horse poo. We mulched it with pine needles collected locally. Last season I neglected my four plants terribly but they sent out about a billion runners, so now we have about 20 plants. We're all looking forward to summer now (especially Theo who is rather fond of 'drawbweeies')!

counting

Theo had his first unassisted and unprompted go at counting past two the other day in the car. We heard his darling little voice in the silence... "un...doo...ee...four...(pause)...ix...eight.nine.den! Yay" (Clap clap clap). He only missed five and seven. He hasn't repeated it all on his own after taking a liking to "eight", now we normally get "un...doo..ee...EIGHT-nine-den...yay!!!" (clap clap clap), or just "EIGHT...nine..den". One of Django's favourite passtimes is counting too, maybe I'll end up with two accountants??

Theodore counting, with Nanna and eating chocolate biscuits - three favourite activities combined!
